Topic: Tax and Legislative Update

Description: The enactment of The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act brought about sweeping changes to our Tax Code not seen in more than 30 years. One year later we review the new law and the IRS guidance since then.  Emphasis of discussion will be center on tax benefits of charitable giving and how and when people give to charities as well how they structure their financial and tax planning for themselves and their businesses. 

Come and join us as Terry Cicero, CPA, CFP®, a principal with DHJJ, provides an overview of the key reforms and shares what you, your clients, donors and organizations need to know to navigate these waters.

  • Key provisions of the new tax law and their expected impact on how individuals plan and give;
  • Strategies for advisers and gift planners to help maximize the benefits their donors and clients receive;
  • Brief estate, trust and gift tax update
  • Review of guidance provided by the IRS on various reform provisions

About Our Speaker:

Terry Cicero is a principal at DHJJ where he combines his tax and financial management expertise to help individuals and their families build financially sound futures. He specializes in family wealth planning, notably tax planning, investment asset location analysis, charitable giving strategies, estate planning and retirement planning, including Roth IRA conversion analysis. Terry is a CPA as well as a Certified Financial Planner™ and holds a Series 65 certification. He is often asked to speak on financial advisory topics where his zest for the profession comes through as most of his presentations manage to be both fun and informative. Terry earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Roosevelt University and a master’s in Tax from DePaul University. He is also a member of the AICPA and the IL CPA Society.
